The noise ordinance focus group is meeting for the third time, with a draft expected soon.
Consent Agenda Approval
The meeting began with the consideration of the consent agenda. There was only one item, 1A, on the agenda. After a brief discussion about whether to pull the item for separate discussion, a motion was made and seconded to approve it as submitted. The vote was unanimous, with all commissioners present voting in favor.
Planning Updates
Miss Hilton provided updates on recent planning activities. She expressed gratitude to Gina for participating in a one-day Urban Land Institute (ULI) conference held at the University of Tulsa. While attendance from Jenks wasn't as high as hoped, a board of adjustment member, Mr. Eric Inyart, and Gina were present, along with Miss Hilton herself.
Gina shared her thoughts on the ULI conference, noting that it provided valuable perspective. She mentioned that hearing developers discuss the City of Tulsa's situation made her realize that challenges aren't unique to Jenks and the Planning Commission. Professionally, she learned a lot and gained insights into what's happening in Tulsa, particularly the demand for affordable housing. This helped her put things into perspective for her work in Jenks.
Miss Hilton also complimented Gina on her performance during a panel at the conference, stating that no tough questions were asked.
Noise Ordinance Progress
Another significant update concerned the noise ordinance. The focus group dedicated to this matter was scheduled to have its third meeting the following day. Miss Hilton indicated that she would have a draft ready for their review. She expressed excitement about this progress and mentioned that the noise code, along with other related items, would be brought to the commission for review as soon as possible. Initially, she had hoped to present these items in December, but it now looks more likely to be in January.
Adjournment
With no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 6:03 PM.
